JEFF KAY
Special Projects Technology Manager
Jeff took the lead on an innovative enterprise in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Using a system of 3D printers across several school districts is in the CSIU’s service region, Jeff began creating face shields by the thousands.
As word spread, Jeff’s production of masks would answer demands for PPEs both locally and from as far away as New Mexico. Jeff and his team would fill order for the educational and medical communities, as well as answering requests from pharmacies and postal workers.
Throughout the process, Jeff had to adapt to what became a “new job” by ensuring printers had enough supplies to produce the masks, were kept in operation, and also became what he jokingly refers to as a UPS driver to ensure orders were delivered.
“It was a way to kind of not think about COVID for a while and to actually do something that would impact the community,” Jeff said.
Within a three-month span, Jeff’s production climbed to more than 35,000 pieces of equipment, from ear-savers to masks to face shields.
